New Aquatic Skills Program

Changes to Aquatic Skills Program

For 13 years, Neptune has been successful in teaching thousands of children the vital skill of swimming via our own tailored written Aquatic Skills Program. This was written by our expert tutors to encompass many layers of different swimming skills which are proven to provide children with the best possible experience in the water.

Following a recent teacher consultation and ongoing feedback collection from our customers, we are excited to announce some changes to the program from September 2024. Much of the feedback we have received is that children are spending a little too long in each level and classes are becoming more and more mixed in ability.

Therefore a more streamlined awarding criteria has been designed with the aim being to create a better balance within the classes. Please do not worry, no swimmers are being moved backwards in their progress simply sideways. We will be increasing the number of classes from 4 (ducklings, Turtles, Jellyfish, Dolphins) to 5 with the inclusion of the brand-new Orca class after Dolphins.

It will also allow us to launch a brand new swim squad, which will be open to swimmers who have completed the Orca classes. This squad will provide pre-competitive swimmers with the necessary skills to learn how to swim competitively. There will also be the opportunity to compete against other squads run on other days within the swim school.

These changes also allow us to announce the return of both Junior Lifeguard and Baby Swimming Lessons. Further information on these 2 returning sessions will be made available shortly.

The program changes are not just designed to make the program easier to manage. They will also introduce exciting new features such as catch-up lessons. This means that if you miss a lesson due to a holiday, you will be able to book an extra class within a few weeks. Stay tuned for further announcements about these changes in the near future.

The aim is to keep all swimmers in the same day and venue however with the changing criteria some swimmers may need to move up classes or to a new time to allow other classes to run. We hope to keep this movement to a minimum but please bear with us while we implement these changes over the summer months ready for September.

New Program vs the Old Program

Children working towards to the following badges will move over to the new classes as outlined below.

What will Happen Next?

By 23rd June

All teachers will grade swimmers and mark any swimmers that need to move up.

No grading will then be completed for the rest of the term while we move swimmers around

Monday 24th June

All bookings will be closed while we move all swimmers around.

Progress will also disappear from the members Hub, while we re-enrol all the swimmers into their new class.

9th July 2024

Parents will receive an email detailing their new class including day and time.

Parents will be able to log into the Members Hub to see the new class that will start in September. If the day and time don't work there will be a form to fill out

From the 17th July

We will start working through the forms for swimmers where the new class doesn't work and will start to offer any spaces that we have available.

5th August

Bookings will open to all swimmers to join the new program.

2nd September

Lessons restart

We ask that customers are patient with us while we complete the movement of swimmers. This will be a time-consuming process that has to be done manually by the swim school team. We understand that there may already be the need for your swimmer to change days/times in September due to school commitments and we will do our best to accommodate you if the class you are allocated doesn’t suit.

When viewing the members hub to see your new classes the teachers will not be listed. This is due some staff leaving us for university and others who cannot access their school/college time tables until the end of the summer holidays
