STA Level 2 Baby and Pre-school Award


Training for the Level 2 Award in Aquatic Teaching - Baby and Pre-School course takes place for a minimum of 24 hours with an assessment that concludes the course.


It determines a candidate's knowledge, understanding and ability to teach aquatic activities, including paddle strokes to babies and pre-school children during adult and children lessons, and deliver the STA Starfish programme, as well as the Teddy Bear awards

Examination process


The Level 2 Award in Aquatic Teaching - Baby and Pre-School is tutor assessed through the completion of worksheets, schemes of work, lesson plans, lesson evaluation forms and practical teaching.


In addition to this, there is an external assessment of a 30-minute practical lesson on the final day of the course. This is assessed by an independent examiner

Prerequisites

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Hold current membership of STA
  • Hold the Safeguarding Children, Young People and Vulnerable Adults online learning certificate or acceptable equivalent
