Train as a Swimming Teacher

Have you ever thought about becoming a swimming teacher?

With discounted fees, now is the time to learn!

Neptune Aquatic Solutions is excited to announce that we have received some funding to help reduce the cost to train new swimming teachers in the Wiltshire area. Swimming teachers are in great demand, however, the training can be very expensive, especially in these times. The funding is designed to reduce the cost of the training and help those who have recently been made redundant (last 12 months) or if you are aged between 16 - 20 years old and this will be your first job. However even if this doesn't apply to you, you can still take the course and learn to be a swimming teacher.

There are even employment chances with Neptune Aquatic Solutions for the right learners at multiple venues across Wiltshire.

The STA Level 2 Award in Teaching Swimming is an accredited course that will help you to develop the skills and knowledge required to become a fully qualified swimming teacher.

About the course

  • The Course Fees

The STA Level 2 Award in Teaching Swimming usually costs £299 per person. However, if you meet the eligibility criteria the cost will be reduced by 55% to £134.56 per person.

We can even help further by splitting the cost over 4 monthly payments of £33.64.

  • How will the course be run

The theory elements of the course will be run online over 4 saturdays (28/2, 7/3,14/3. 21/3). The theory portion of this course also includes a safeguarding qualification.

Once we can reopen from lockdown and swimming lessons can resume, learners will be able to attend sessions to undertake the practical elements of the course.

  • Prerequisites

You’ll need to make sure you’ve met the following requirements before you attend your course:

    • Be 16 years old or older at the start of the course
    • Hold or take out STA membership (this membership includes insurance)
  • How much can I earn

According to a survey by swimming.org in 2015 the average wage of a swimming teacher was £14.89 per hour. However most private swim schools use a sliding scale to ensure the more experienced and qualified you get the higher your wages can go.

For example, here are Neptune Aquatics our starting rate for a swimming teacher is £11.00 per hour increasing to £20.00 per hour for our experienced swimming teachers.

  • How many hours can I work

Teaching both children and adults to learn to swim is a very physically and mentally demanding role. Therefore most teachers work between 5 - 15 hours per week.

However, the hours can be flexible and work well around family life or a student's life. Teachers are in demand throughout the school day, outside of school hours and at weekends. The choice of when you work and how many hours you work, is very much down to you and the company you work for.
