Junior Lifeguard Academy

Join our Junior Lifeguard Academy - Wiltshire

Our fantastic Junior Lifeguard Academy is now running from Ashwicke Hall School in Wiltshire. The Junior Lifeguard Academy has been created specifically for swimmers age 8 years and over who are looking for something different from their swimming lessons. These fun sessions offer more variety than traditional swimming lessons and allow the children to develop a wide range of aquatic skills. They'll learn the rules and have the chance to try lots of new aquatics sports. They'll also have the opportunity to develop life-saving and first aid skills and work towards a number of badges and awards. To join the Junior Lifeguard Academy your child will need to be at Neptune's Dolphin level or above (Swim England Stage 5.) They'll also need to be:

  • able to swim 50 metres continuously and unaided
  • confident in deep water (all classes are taught in deep water)
  • able to tread water competently
  • aged 8 or above

Children who join our new Academy will begin by learning the basics of personal survival, then progress to developing a wide variety of survival and rescue skills including:

  • Lifeguarding
  • First Aid
  • Snorkelling
  • Ocean awareness
  • Distance swimming
  • Aquatic sports skills
  • Health and well being

Neptune's Junior Lifeguard Academy will run for 40 weeks of the year (in line with the Wiltshire school terms) at Ashwicke Hall School in Colerne on Tuesday evenings. The sessions are slightly longer than our standard swimming lessons at 45 minutes to give our teachers plenty of time to offer the children a variety of activities.
