What is hydrotherapy?
Put simply, hydrotherapy is exercise in water. Here at Neptune Aquatics our focus is warm-water hydrotherapy, in specialised pools heated to 32-35 degrees, this temperature is much warmer than conventional swimming pools.

It can help those who are looking to improve fitness, feel relaxed and lose weight to people who are trying to cope with life-long debilitating conditions or recover from surgery or injury. How does it work?
The warm water affects your body in a number of ways. Firstly the warmth can have a soothing effect, relieving your pain whilst you’re in the pool. The warmer temperature of the water also increases your circulation allowing increased movement of your joints; above what may be achievable on dry land. The water’s hydrostatic pressure also supports your weight, which allows for greater mobility and confidence for many who are less able when they’re not in the water. The water also provides its own gentle resistance, allowing your muscles to increase in strength. Depending upon your specific needs, the type of exercise programme you follow might be very different, using simply the resistance of the water or by adding in weights and floats.
